Comments: That is a great way to get comments. I was brought into the hallowed
Brotherhood of the Chief's Mess last September. I have been impressed by two things. When
you are a Petty Officer it seems like you work harder than Chief's. Boy is that wrong.
Chief's do twice as much work they just make it look like less work. Two, the Brotherhood is
remakable. They accept you for who you are and like an eagle, they let you soar to whatever
heights you can fly to.

Comments: I joined the Navy in April of 1966, Went to Boot Camp and EM "A" school in San
Diego. After that, I served on the USS Springfield CLG 7 prior to going to Nuc school in
Bainbridge, Md, and and then to S1C prototype in Windsor Locks, Conn. Somehow I got out of
there and went to Sub School, and from there to the USS Seadragon, SSN 584. Managed to loose
my NEC, and was sent the the USS Tang, SS563--It was like going to heaven! After about 3 years
on Tang, I managed to swing some Shore Duty in Denver, Colo. Next stop was the USS Grayback,
LPSS 574, homeported in Subic Bay. Two years later I was a civilian for about 2 hours. Joined
the Navy Reserves, (12 years was too much to throw away). No billets open for electricians, so
I changed rate to Mineman--WHAT AN EYE OPENER!!! Through abit of perservence and the grace of
God I managed to make CPO, and then a few years later made SCPO. I thorougly enjoyed my Navy
career and wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world. Well maybe! As I look back, I
realize the influence that "NAVY CHIEFS" have had on my life. Our system is the best in the
world. To all you Chiefs, I salute you! Thanks for listening or reading my ramblings.
