When I got out of boot camp my first duty station was at INACTSHIPS in Philadelphia I stayed aboard the barracks ship USS CHANDELURE AV10. From there in 1965 I was transfered to the USS FDR CVA42. In 1968 I re-inlisted and was transfered to the USS SIMON LAKE AS33 which was in Holy Loch Scotland at the time. In 1971 I was station at OCS in Newport, RI. In 1974 I was sent to the USS GRAM COUNTY AN AGP home ported in Naples for a short period of time. In 1975 I was transfered back to the USS SIMON LAKE which was in Rota Spain at the time. Then in 1978 I went to Detroit MI. on recuriting duty. In 1980 I was again transfered back to the USS SIMON LAKE in Kings Bay, GA. I stayed there until 1981 when I was transfered to NAVORDSTA Indian Head, Md. and where I ended my carrier in Apr. 1984 as a SKC. Since I retired from the Navy I have for the past 14 years worked for the Dept. of Navy at NAVSEA in Arlington, Va. |

I have been a crewmember of the following ships: USS Taylor(FFG-50)/Plankowner, USS Richmond K. Turner(CG-20), USS Dale (CG-19)/Decommissioning Crew and various Mine Counter Measure ships out of Ingleside Texas as part of Rotational Crew Charlie. My only other shore tour was at PSD Gulfport aboard the SeaBee base. This being only my second shore tour in over 16 years is a nice break but I miss being "haze gray". I love my country and am proud to serve it as part of the world's greatest Navy! |
