In the shadows of boot camp, I first took my stand,
Through Hospital Corpsman School, I learned to command.
Among the chosen few, where duty calls,
I train to support, to answer their shouts and falls.
To serve the strong, I was told, be even stronger still,
To stand with the Marines, to share in their will.
Train like them, I vowed, in the heat of the fight,
To comfort their sorrows, to be their guiding light.
When the battle rages on and spirits wane low,
I am a mother, a father, a brother wherever they go.
In their darkest moments, I lend them my ear,
Through tears and through triumphs, I am always near.
Though miles divide me from my loved ones at home,
Their faces inspire me; I am never alone.
With thoughts of my children and those whom I left behind,
I channel my strength to this new family in every dark night.
For the Marines are my family, my brothers in arms,
With each heartbeat, I am driven to shield them from harm.
Yes, I wear the title with honor and pride,
As DOC, their protector, I stand by their side.
In the field, I find purpose; in caring, I thrive,
A Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, I'm truly alive.
Each life that I touch, each hand that I hold,
Is a testament of service, a story retold.
